about the ASU Foundation

The ASU Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization that raises and invests private contributions to Arizona State University, a New American University, while advocating for and advancing this transformative university mission and brand. The foundation coordinates and directs all major fundraising campaigns on behalf of ASU, its colleges and schools, and manages total private assets of more than $781 million (as of close of fiscal year, June 2011).

The foundation also serves as the university’s entrepreneurial arm in technology commercialization, real estate investment and other emerging initiatives:

Arizona Technology Enterprises (AzTE) is ASU’s private technology transfer company and a wholly owned subsidiary of the foundation. AzTE helps develop new ventures based on ASU innovations, creates strategic linkages with local and global business communities and fosters venture capital and “angel” investments in ASU’s spin-out companies.

SkySong ®, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, and the ASU Brickyard are two of the foundation’s largest real-estate ventures. Both projects generate revenue for ASU and are managed in part by the foundation.

The foundation is one of Arizona’s oldest 501(c)(3) organizations, governed by a volunteer board of directors, who provide oversight, leadership and counsel.
