Women’s philanthropy: A world-changing power

Women & Philanthropy was formed in 2002 by a small group of women, including several Arizona State University alumnae, committed to becoming advocates and philanthropic supporters of the university. Since then, the organization has grown tremendously — in membership, influence and impact.

Women & Philanthropy’s collective voice is formed by each investor who makes a minimum annual investment of $1,000, which is directed into the Women & Philanthropy Pooled Fund. Each year, investors decide how to distribute the fund among university initiatives and scholarship programs that embody ASU’s work to transcend boundaries, see opportunity in challenges and take ambitious risks. To date, the organization has given more than $1.72 million to ASU.

Women & Philanthropy is a brilliant example of the world-changing power of female philanthropy. As women continue to make great strides in business, government and the nonprofit sector, they create multiple opportunities to give for the common good. Once every woman fully discovers her own giving capacity — and strategically and intentionally gives to the causes that impassion her — the possibilities are endless.

"I am deeply honored to serve as honorary chair of Women & Philanthropy, which I believe is one of the finest philanthropic organizations in the Valley. Even in the present economy, Women & Philanthropy continues to successfully advance its mission with support from more than 200 visionary women. It is with great joy that I help lead our organization to even greater heights of influence and impact for ASU."
